Dr. Cristiana Bonifacio is a radiologist with extensive expertise in abdominal and gastrointestinal imaging, focusing on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), rectal cancer imaging, pancreatic cancer, radiomics, and advanced MRI/CT GI biomarkers.
She is currently Head of the Gastroenterological Radiology Unit at Humanitas Research Hospital.
Her scientific contributions include significant research work on IBD imaging standardization, such as her role in the international development of the Lemann Index, now an established global tool for assessing cumulative bowel damage in Crohn’s disease. She has also contributed innovative work in radiomics, predictive modeling and pancreatic cancer risk stratification and she has collaborated on international consensus studies addressing pancreatic cancer resectability.
Dr. Bonifacio’s experience in quantitative imaging, clinical trial involvement, and multidisciplinary research makes her well suited for projects involving advanced abdominal imaging, imaging biomarkers, and machine-learning–enhanced diagnostics,
