Julie Pierrart is a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) on the colorectal surgery department at University Hospitals Leuven. She got her master degree in 2015 and started as a CNS in 2018, prior to working as a general nurse on the abdominal surgery department. In her role as CNS, she monitors the post-colorectal surgery patients on the ward. She monitors compliance with the existing protocols and optimizes the quality of care. Besides that, her focus lies on the follow up of patients in the ambulant setting, where she plays a key role in education and prevention of potential postoperative complications.
